A webinar for teachers in all Globeducate schools airs on Tuesday 17th September, with the theme of Digital Wellbeing one of three key themes for the 2024-25 academic year. Head of Wellbeing for Globeducate, Rhiannon Phillips-Bianco, leads the webinars each term as part of her new role.
Rhiannon is a seasoned educator and leader with over 20 years of experience in international education, having worked in Italy and The Netherlands. Throughout her career, she has successfully developed and implemented wellbeing programmes across three schools, addressing the diverse needs of students, staff, and parents.
Wellbeing is a top priority for Globeducate, and as the Head of Wellbeing, Rhiannon leads a range of initiatives designed to enhance the overall wellbeing of the entire school community. She collaborates closely with pastoral and teaching teams to ensure they can meet the wellbeing needs of all students, providing regular training both in-person and online, creating a comprehensive wellbeing framework with strong thematic focuses each term, and conducting detailed data analysis to address the specific needs of different student cohorts. Additionally, her work involves promoting and supporting staff wellbeing through targeted initiatives and training and engaging with parents to ensure student wellbeing needs are supported both at school and at home.
Each term, the Wellbeing programme will spotlight a specific theme. This year’s focus areas are: Digital Wellbeing, Healthy Relationships, and, as chosen by Safeguarding and Wellbeing leads from all campuses, Self-Esteem. Every theme will be launched with a webinar, open to all staff. While many strategies are student-focused, it is crucial to remember that staff wellbeing is equally important, and these strategies can be easily adapted for adults. Recordings of the webinars will be available to Globeducate teams, along with relevant resources, age-appropriate assemblies, and a similar webinar for parents, offering tools and strategies for home use.
The first webinar, on Digital Wellbeing, is scheduled for Tuesday, 17th September, at 16:30 CET. In this webinar Rhiannon will share recent research into digital wellbeing, as well as a range of tools and strategies that we can apply as educators to support our students' wellbeing. A Digital Wellbeing parent webinar will follow later in the term.
In addition to these webinars, Rhiannon will provide further training to Designated Safeguarding Leads and Wellbeing Leads to support them in addressing their schools' specific needs. This will include assistance in developing their PSHE/PSPE programmes, organising a 'Kindness Counts' week as a positive alternative to Anti-Bullying initiatives, offering data analysis support for tools like PASS surveys, and helping schools respond effectively to emerging issues.
Rhiannon looks forward to working closely with the entire Globeducate team to foster the wellbeing of the whole school community and invites the community of learners, parents and teachers to get in touch through your school if you have any ideas or suggestions.
