Global Olympics 2025 Connects Students from 25 Schools at Stonar School

Students from 25 schools from across the world came together in the UK to take part in the much-anticipated Globeducate Global Olympics 2025, hosted by Stonar School in Wiltshire.

The event, running from 17th to 20th June, is a celebration of sport, international friendship and collaboration.  A popular and prestigious event, we bring together students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds to compete in a range of sports, including football, swimming, tennis and athletics – with a strong emphasis on teamwork.

From the spectacular Opening Ceremony held at the University of Bath’s world-class athletics track, to the energetic competitions across Stonar’s pitches, pool, courts, and Sports Hall, the event was a powerful showcase of everything the Globeducate community stands for.

Unlike traditional school sports events, the Globeducate Global Olympics takes a unique and inclusive approach. Mixed teams - intentionally formed from pupils of different nationalities and schools - fostered collaboration and connection from the start. As a result, pupils quickly bonded not only as teammates, but as new-found friends.

The action-packed programme included athletics, football, swimming, volleyball, tennis, and even ultimate frisbee!

“I’ve really enjoyed hosting the Olympics because I’ve been able to be in a team with new people from across the world and make new friends. My highlight has been going into challenges with my new friends and team mates... we even won the athletics!”

This year’s event was hosted at Stonar School´s impressive 80-acre campus and local world-class sporting facilities. The two previous events were hosted by Agora Granada College International School, Spain, and Nobel Algarve British International School Lagoa, Portugal.

Students arrived in Bath on Monday 16th and settled into their accommodation, ready for the week’s programme which includes athletics, swimming, football, volleyball, ultimate frisbee and tennis, with junior and senior categories for boys and girls. Events begin on Tuesday 17th June with an opening ceremony at the University of Bath, followed by a full day of competition and camaraderie.

Evenings offer time to unwind and enjoy local culture, with evening meals at Stonar School´s restaurant, La Cantina, and a celebratory disco and buffet planned for the final night of the event. The typically warm Stonar School hospitality and the sense of community among participating schools are already making this a truly memorable week for all.

For many, the Closing Ceremony was the crowning moment of the event. Stonar’s own horses made a special appearance, and pupils were treated to an original play exploring the school’s origins – and an original song, both written especially for the occasion by Charlotte Bennett, Stonar’s Director of Partnerships and the event’s organiser.

“This has been an incredibly special few days. The Globeducate Global Olympics is more than just a sporting event - it’s a celebration of what’s possible when young people from across the world come together. Watching friendships form so quickly, seeing pupils push themselves in new environments, and witnessing the pride with which they’ve represented their schools has been genuinely inspiring. We’ve been thrilled to host it here at Stonar.”

For visiting staff, the impact was just as clear.

“The Olympics here at Stonar have genuinely been world-class. From the warm welcome we received on arrival, to the superb athletics at Bath University and the high-quality sports events across Stonar... it’s been fantastic. My personal highlight has been seeing how quickly the students connected despite coming from so many different places. They’ve made firm friendships through sport. It’s been superb!”

The Global Olympics event gives students a chance not only to showcase their sporting talents but to build friendships across borders, experience different cultures, and embrace the Globeducate vision of preparing each student to be a global citizen who can shape the world.
