Showcasing Talent, Leadership, and Dedication to Global Challenges

The annual Globeducate Model United Nations event closed on Friday 14th March, held at EDEM Business School, Valencia, with Cambridge House British International School as the host. More than 140 students from 23 Globeducate schools around the world demonstrated remarkable skills in argumentation, critical thinking, and conflict resolution on current, real-world global issues under the theme "Promoting peace through sustainable and inclusive development."

The Globeducate MUN is one of seven international events organised by the group throughout the school year, providing a unique platform for young people to test their communication, research, and teamwork abilities, while also allowing them to connect with students from different countries and cultures.

"It was wonderful to see all participating students challenge themselves and step out of their comfort zone to engage in global issues, negotiate resolutions and build connections that are essential to developing a more inclusive and sustainable global community. They demonstrated the high-level skills and commitment that will serve them and society well in the future."

Delegates spent three days in Valencia and on the 14th March, attended a closing ceremony that highlighted the incredible work and performance of the students who successfully tackled the challenge of simulating the work of the United Nations. Throughout the week, students aged 15 to 18 stepped into the shoes of UN delegates, representing various countries’ stances on critical global issues that impact world peace, including military disarmament, international territorial disputes, fossil fuels, using technology to improve education, refugee rights, and resolving ongoing conflicts such as those in Kosovo and between Russia and Ukraine.

It was an unforgettable experience for all, one that not only connected them with people from other countries and cultures but also allowed them to further develop key skills for their personal and professional futures, such as public speaking, critical thinking, negotiation, and conflict resolution. An authentic display of talent, leadership, and commitment to current global challenges that reflects the educational excellence of the participating students, but above all, their humanity, evident in the dedication and passion they brought to each debate session.

"Participating in this event has been a unique opportunity, allowing us to reflect on and debate key issues related to world peace and sustainable development. It has also helped us develop our public speaking and teamwork skills, reinforcing our commitment to finding solutions to real problems and contributing ideas that could make a difference in the future."
