Founded in 1976, Southlands British International School is one of the oldest international schools in Rome and educates students aged from 3 to 18 from more than 30 countries. The school follows the English National Curriculum from early years to 15 years old and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for students aged 16 and 17.

At the forefront of a British education in Rome

Located in Rome’s Xth district, Southlands British International School is the only international school on the southern side of the city. The school caters for students aged from 3 to 18 from 36 different countries.

The school specialises in providing a British-style education with an emphasis on holistic as well as academic provision. Our international teaching community is made up of passionate and caring practitioners who are dedicated to ensuring that students achieve excellent academic outcomes whilst also growing up into internationally minded global citizens.   

In addition to the English National Curriculum, Southlands offers Italian students the option of following the Italian National Curriculum up to terza media, and every year the students who opt for this course can take the Italian state education certificate examinations. Post 16, students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, many achieving a bilingual certificate that enables them to study at Italian or English-speaking universities around the world. 

Southlands British International School, Rome, enjoys a fantastic location close to the  beach and forest, and is set in a spacious green campus. Outdoor and adventure learning are key elements of the  provision and students enjoy surfing and trail biking alongside more traditional British sports of football, athletics and running. Beach and forest school projects will launch from September 2021, along with the renowned Duke of Edinburgh programme. 

With a dynamic leadership team in place,  the school is focused on providing excellence across the curricular and co-curricular programmes. The school has a  science laboratory, drama studio and access to the latest technology, including iPads and interactive teaching boards. The school offers a variety of extracurricular activities both during school hours and after school.
